Arusha

It's time to begin your safari. Welcome to Tanzania! After we greet you and provide you with the trip briefing, we'll take you out to help you discover why so many people think Tanzania is the best place in Africa to go on safari.

Spend some time in Arusha, both the gateway city for most safaris in northern Tanzania and a fascinating place to explore. Enjoy good restaurants, streets filled with energy and so many snapshots of vibrant Tanzanian city life. It’s everything you look for in an urban pit stop.

Activity Day 1

Evening

Depends on your arrival time, your safari driver/guide will be ready waiting for you outside the airport exit. After meet and greet we will pick you up from Kilimanjaro Airport this evening and take you to the next stage of your journey. You will arrive at your villa for refreshments and overnight.

Accommodation Day 1

You'll stay with us at Maua Villa.
Villa Maua (House of Flowers) could not be more ‘central’ than its prime location in the safari capital of Northern Tanzania.

Day 2

Lake Manyara National Park

Where the plains of northern Tanzania meet the Rift Valley escarpment, Lake Manyara is a wonderful place to spend a safari day. Your highlights for the day might include getting up-close-and-personal with the elephants that made this park famous, lots of baboons, as well as one of few lion populations in Africa that spend much of their time in the trees. Between the forests at the foot of the escarpment and the lake that gives the park its name, enjoy rich birdlife and the chance of seeing predator ambush their prey.

Activities Day 2

Morning

Keep an eye out for wildlife this morning as our transfer to the next part of your safari as it doubles your game drive. Enjoy the African landscapes, animals and people along the way as you continue entering the African wilderness. You will arrive on time for refreshments, dinner and overnight.

Rest of Day

Take a guided game drive around the forests and along the lakeshore of Lake Manyara National Park, and look for elephants and tree-climbing lions, all in the company of an expert guide.

Accommodation Day 2

Lake Manyara Tortilis Camp

Tented bush camp

Elephants often wander into camp at Lake Manyara Tortilis Camp. That's because you're staying inside the national park boundaries. If you're really lucky you might hear the park's famous tree-climbing lions roaring at night while you sleep in your safari tent. The birdwatching is also especially good in the area close to camp.

Day 3 & 4

Serengeti National Park

Discover just why so many safari visitors fall in love with the Serengeti. Keep an eye out for big cats, even bigger elephants, and almost every kind of safari wildlife you can imagine. You might also see giraffe, impala, zebra, wildebeest, buffalo, hundreds of species of birds, and that may all just be before breakfast. You’ll never forget watching these animals interact, whether you see a hunt, a vast herd or a mother protecting her cub or calf. The Serengeti’s scenery is also unforgettable – observe Africa’s iconic acacia trees, the park’s golden grasslands and great piles of boulders known as kopjes.

Morning

Transfer Game Drive, Lake Manyara National Park to Serengeti National Park
A game drive from Lake Manyara to Serengeti National Park offers a unique opportunity to witness some of Tanzania's most iconic wildlife. Keep an eye for animals, African landscapes and people along the way. You will arrive on time for refreshments, dinner and overnight.

Afternoon

This afternoon you'll go on a guided game drive through Serengeti National Park if you are still fit to do so. Your guide will help you find so many different animals as you drive around the savannah grassland plains of the Serengeti. Talk with your safari driver / guide on how you would like to spend the rest of the day.

Activity Day 4

All Day

After breakfast, you'll be joining us in Serengeti National Park for a guided game drive. It's a fantastic opportunity to see some of the animals. Morning game drive is the best time to spot animals along the water holes while predators are waiting for an easy meal. On this this, you may opt to make morning game drive and come back to your camp for a rest and resume in the afternoon. Talk to your safari driver/guide on how you would like to spend the rest of the day. Later, you will be back to your camp for refreshments, dinner and overnight.

Accommodation Day 3 & 4

Kirimu Camp

Stay at Kirimu Camp with us. It's an excellent place to stay as you enjoy this leg of your trip. Kirimu camp is set in the remote setting in the Serengeti plains to offer the exclusive and the 'Out of Africa' experience to our esteemed guests. Each tent is spacious and designed to provide all amenities of a luxury home away from home.

Day 5

Ngorongoro Crater

You’ll learn why magical Ngorongoro is unlike anywhere else in Africa. Cloud forests encircle the crater rim, and the view out across the caldera of this former volcano – quite apart from the altitude – will leave you gasping for air. Your drive down a steep trail carries you onto the crater floor where a unique wildlife offering is added to the sheer beauty of the experience. You’ll share the sunken ecosystem of the crater floor with hyenas, lions, elephants, black rhinos and hippos. An ecosystem that has formed in the crater in the millennia since the volcano wrought its terrible fury upon the land. It could just be one of your best safari days ever.

Activity Day 5

Morning

Transfer Game Drive, Serengeti National Park via Maasai Village to Ngorongoro Crater
During your transfer, your safari driver will take you to Maasai village en route to the crater. You will have picnic lunch along the hippos pool on the crater floor, This is the only area where you are allowed to get off the safari jeep. Continue to enjoy the game drive while exiting the crater floor. There's plenty to spot. You will arrive at your camp for refreshments, dinner and overnight.

Ngorongoro Tortilis Camp

You're not far from Ngorongoro Crater but in the heart of Maasai land when you stay at Ngorongoro Tortilis Camp. The Maasai are a real focus of camp life and activities, and the safari tents beneath the trees are simply beautiful with comfort and style in equal measure. Gourmet cooking is another feature of staying here.

Day 6

Tarangire National Park

If you’ve never been to Tarangire (and even if you have) you’re in for a real treat. Tarangire is filled with giants – baobab trees all across the park, as well as elephants, lots of them. But that’s just the beginning. Of the big cats, you’ll probably see lions, and cheetahs and leopards are around, too. And it’s impossible to miss the wildebeest, giraffes, hippos, buffaloes and zebras. Your backdrop for all of this is one of the prettiest in northern Tanzania, with a memorable mix of river woodland, open plains and rolling hills. And some vantage points to take it all in.

Come with us as we look for lions, elephants and so much more amid the baobab trees and classic safari scenery of Tarangire National Park.

Tarangire Baobab Tented Camp

Tented camp

You'll really enjoy the location of Tarangire Baobab Tented Camp, which is inside Tarangire National Park in an area with lots of baobab trees. Elephants often wander into camp. Best of all, you'll be sleeping in canvas safari tents where you can lie in bed and listen to the animals at night. The tents have their own bathrooms and there's a dining tent.

Day 7 to 9

Arusha

Some extra time in Arusha is a fine way to rest from life on the African road and enjoy the comforts of city living. Arusha city offers a wide variety of activities for travellers of all interests. It is is also a great place to relax and unwind after safari.

Visit cultural heritage, Arusha
African Cultural Heritage is the biggest African museum in Africa. Enjoy the African culture art and craft from all over African counties.
Visit Orphanage Centre, Arusha
Visit local school, Arusha
Take a tour of this working coffee plantation and learn everything there is to know about one of the world's favourite drinks from the plant, seeds, beans and later you will make your own coffee instructed by the professional Barista.

Visit local market and cooking class later.

Zanzibar Stone Town

Zanzibar Stone Town is a spectacular place to visit. The island's historical riches have produced stunning architecture, including houses built of coral and fine museums. When you smell the spices in the markets or hear the Muslim call to prayer echo through the tangled streets, you'll feel like you've stepped back centuries.

This afternoon we will take you to the airport. This will be your last day in Arusha and ready for the next adventure. Zanzibar is awaiting.
